Pujanlok Terms and Conditions

*Draft for review by an Indian advocate and a chartered accountant before publication. This draft is not legal advice. Text in [SQUARE BRACKETS] must be completed.*

Version 1.0 · Effective [DATE]

These terms govern your use of pujanlok.com, the Pujanlok mobile app and every booking you make through them. Please read them before you book. The Puja Booking, Cancellation and Refund Policy and the Privacy Notice form part of these terms.

1. Who we are

1.1 Pujanlok is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] Private Limited, a company incorporated in India with CIN [CIN] and its registered office at [REGISTERED ADDRESS], [STATE]. In these terms, "Pujanlok", "we", "us" and "our" mean that company.

1.2 "You" and "the devotee" mean the person who uses the platform or makes a booking. "Partner" means an independent pandit, purohit, temple, trust, shrine or vedic centre that performs rituals booked through Pujanlok. "Puja" includes every ritual listed on the platform, such as puja, abhishek, jaap, havan, path and shraddh.

1.3 You can reach us at [EMAIL] or [PHONE + HOURS].

2. Accepting these terms

2.1 You accept these terms when you create an account or confirm a booking. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2.2 Accepting these terms is separate from consenting to how we use your personal data. We ask for data consent separately, for each purpose, as described in section 12 and our Privacy Notice.

3. Eligibility

3.1 You must be at least 18 years old and competent to contract under the Indian Contract Act 1872 to create an account or make a booking.

3.2 A person under 18 may be named in a booking, for example for a namkaran, mundan or annaprashan. The adult account holder makes the booking and gives consent on the child's behalf as parent or lawful guardian (see section 12.4).

3.3 If you use the platform from outside India, you are responsible for complying with the laws of the country you are in.

4. Your account

4.1 You sign in with a one-time password sent to your mobile number or email. Keep your device and your OTPs private. Do not share them with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from Pujanlok. We will never ask for your OTP.

4.2 You are responsible for bookings made from your account. Tell us at once at [EMAIL] if you think someone else has accessed it.

4.3 Keep your contact details current. We send booking confirmations, the puja video and prasad tracking to the contact details on your account.

5. What Pujanlok does

5.1 Pujanlok lists pujas, takes bookings, collects sankalp details, arranges for a partner to perform the puja, and delivers the promised proof of performance: a video, photographs and, where included, a prasad box.

5.2 Every puja listing states what is included: the ritual, the number of pandits, the mantra count where relevant, the temple or shrine, the date or date window, whether sankalp is taken in your name, the video and photo delivery time, and whether prasad is sent.

5.3 Pujas are described as "performed by a partner pandit at [temple or shrine]". Pujanlok is not a temple administration and does not represent any temple or trust that is not our partner. We use a temple's or shrine's name only with authorisation from the temple, its trust or the pandit who performs there.

5.4 The role of Pujanlok

*Drafting note: choose one option before publication and delete the other. Option A suits a model where Pujanlok contracts pandits and sells the puja itself. Option B suits a model where partners list their own services and Pujanlok acts as a marketplace. The choice changes who issues the tax invoice for the ritual service, whether Pujanlok deducts TDS under section 194-O of the Income-tax Act on partner payouts, whether Pujanlok is an intermediary under the IT Rules 2021 and a marketplace e-commerce entity under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020, and who answers to the devotee for a defective ritual. Sections outside 5.4 read correctly under either option.*

OPTION A — Pujanlok as service provider (principal)

5.4A.1 When you book a puja, you contract with Pujanlok. We engage a partner to perform the puja on our behalf, and we are responsible to you for the puja being performed as described.

5.4A.2 Partners are independent professionals engaged by us under written agreements. They are not our employees. They are bound by our performance standards, conduct rules and confidentiality obligations.

5.4A.3 Pujanlok issues the invoice for your booking.

OPTION B — Pujanlok as marketplace intermediary

5.4B.1 Pujanlok is an online marketplace. When you book a puja, your contract for the ritual is with the partner named on the listing. Pujanlok facilitates the booking, collects payment on the partner's behalf, coordinates the puja and delivers the proof.

5.4B.2 Every listing shows the partner's name and city, and the temple or shrine where the puja is performed. We have a written agreement with every partner, and we verify each partner's identity before listing them.

5.4B.3 Pujanlok remains responsible to you for its own services: accurate listings, handling your booking and payment, delivering the video and photos, and resolving complaints under section 20. Where a partner fails to perform, we will help you get the remedy set out in the Refund Policy, including a refund from the amount we hold.

5.4B.4 The partner's service is invoiced by or on behalf of the partner. Pujanlok invoices its platform or convenience fee separately.

6. How a booking becomes a contract

6.1 A puja listing is an invitation to book. It is not an offer.

6.2 When you submit a booking and pay, you make an offer to book that puja.

6.3 The contract is formed when we send you a booking confirmation by email, SMS, WhatsApp or in the app. The confirmation names the puja, the scheduled date or date window, and the performing partner or the temple or shrine.

6.4 We may decline a booking before confirmation. Reasons include a date that has filled, a partner who is unavailable, a pricing error, or a concern about fraud. If we decline, we refund the full amount to your original payment method.

7. Prices and payment

7.1 Prices are in Indian rupees. The price shown at checkout is the final amount you pay, including any applicable GST and fees. The price breakdown at checkout shows each part separately.

7.2 Some ritual services may be exempt from GST, while platform fees, samagri and prasad boxes may be taxable. Your invoice shows the tax treatment of each item.

7.3 We accept payment through [PAYMENT GATEWAY]. We do not store your full card details. International cards are accepted, subject to verification by the gateway.

7.4 For high-value or international transactions, we or our payment gateway may ask for identity proof before confirming a booking. We may require your PAN where the law requires it above a prescribed transaction value.

7.5 If a price is shown wrongly because of an obvious error, we will tell you before confirming. You may then choose to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

8. Not a donation

8.1 Every amount you pay Pujanlok is a fee for a service. It is not a donation to Pujanlok, to any partner or to any temple.

8.2 Payments are not eligible for deduction under section 80G of the Income-tax Act 1961, and we do not issue donation or charitable receipts.

8.3 Where a listing includes an offering (such as flowers, cloth, bhog or dakshina) made on your behalf, the cost of that offering is part of the service price and is shown in the listing.

9. Sankalp details

9.1 For a puja performed in your name, you give us sankalp details, such as your name, gotra, the names of family members, and in some cases birth details or the names of departed relatives for pitru rituals.

9.2 You are responsible for the accuracy of these details. Please check spelling and gotra before you pay.

9.3 You can correct sankalp details until [24 hours] before the scheduled puja, from your account or by contacting us.

9.4 If a puja is performed with details you supplied wrongly, it is not a failure of the service and is not refundable. Where it is feasible, we will arrange a fresh sankalp with the corrected details at no charge.

9.5 Only give details of other people if you are entitled to share them. Section 12.3 explains this.

10. Scheduling and changes

10.1 Pujas are scheduled by tithi, nakshatra and muhurat, and temples have their own calendars. Dates can change because of a panchang correction, a temple closure, a festival rush, a partner's illness or a local event.

10.2 If we need to move your puja, we will tell you as early as we can and offer a new date. If the new date does not suit you, you may cancel for a full refund.

10.3 If a puja cannot be performed at all, you choose between a new date and a full refund.

11. Faith, outcomes and advice

11.1 We arrange for each puja to be performed as described, following its tradition, by a partner who knows the ritual.

11.2 The spiritual benefit of a puja is a matter of personal faith. We do not promise, and no partner is authorised to promise, any particular result in your health, relationships, career, finances, legal matters or any other part of your life.

11.3 Nothing on the platform is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. No puja, mantra, yantra or remedy is offered as a cure or treatment for any disease or condition. Please consult a qualified professional for those needs.

11.4 Listings describe what a ritual is traditionally performed for, according to scripture and custom. That description is not a claim that the ritual will produce that outcome.

11.5 *[Include only if offered.]* Astrology content, such as kundli readings, muhurat suggestions or reports, is interpretive, not factual prediction. Where we use software or artificial intelligence to prepare or assist such content, we say so on the product page. We never present AI-generated text as the personal work of a named pandit or astrologer.

12. Your personal data

12.1 We process personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules 2025. Our Privacy Notice lists what we collect, why, who receives it, how long we keep it, and your rights.

12.2 We ask for your consent specifically for each purpose, with a clear notice. Using the platform does not by itself mean you consent to anything. You can withdraw consent as easily as you gave it, from your account or by writing to [EMAIL].

12.3 To perform your puja, the partner receives the sankalp details needed for the ritual: names, gotra and, where relevant, other details you entered for the sankalp. They receive nothing more than the ritual needs and must keep it confidential. If you give details of family members, you confirm that you are entitled to share them for this purpose.

12.4 If a booking includes a child's details, you confirm that you are the child's parent or lawful guardian and that you consent on the child's behalf. We may ask you to verify this as required by the DPDP Rules. We do not use children's data for marketing or profiling.

12.5 Your rights include access, correction, erasure, grievance redressal and nominating another person to exercise your rights. Section 20 explains how to raise a complaint.

13. Communications

13.1 Booking confirmations, schedule changes, video delivery and prasad tracking are part of the service. We send them by SMS, email, WhatsApp or app notification.

13.2 Marketing messages, such as festival reminders and offers, are sent only if you opt in separately. You can opt out at any time from the message itself or from your account.

13.3 Calls with our support team may be recorded for quality and dispute resolution. We tell you at the start of the call.

14. Puja videos and photos

14.1 We give you a personal, non-commercial licence to watch, download and keep the video and photos of your puja.

14.2 You may share them on your personal social media, with credit to Pujanlok. You may not sell them, use them in advertising or republish them commercially.

14.3 Videos and photos may show the partner pandit, who has agreed to appear in them.

14.4 We do not use your puja video or photos in our marketing unless you give separate consent. Even then, we remove or blur your personal details.

15. Reviews and ratings

15.1 Only devotees with a completed booking can review that puja. Reviews must be honest and about your own experience.

15.2 We do not write, buy, filter or reorder reviews to mislead. We may remove reviews that are abusive, unlawful, off-topic or contain personal data. We will not remove a review merely because it is negative.

15.3 Booking counts and ratings shown on the platform come from our own booking records.

16. Acceptable use

16.1 You agree not to:

  • give false details or book in someone else's name without their permission;
  • use the platform for anything unlawful, fraudulent or abusive;
  • post content that insults any religion, community, deity or person, or that promotes hatred;
  • ask a partner to perform any ritual meant to harm another person;
  • scrape, copy or resell listings, prices or content;
  • interfere with the platform's security or operation; or
  • contact partners to arrange bookings outside the platform in order to avoid our fees, while a booking is active.

16.2 We may refuse service, remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, as set out in section 18.

17. Intellectual property

17.1 The Pujanlok name, logo, design, text, illustrations and software belong to us or our licensors. You may not use them without our written permission.

17.2 Temple and shrine names, images and marks belong to their owners and are used with their authorisation.

17.3 If you believe content on the platform infringes your rights, write to [EMAIL] with details and we will act on it under the Copyright Act 1957 and the IT Rules 2021.

18. Suspension and termination

18.1 You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Closing your account does not cancel confirmed bookings unless you ask for that, under the Refund Policy.

18.2 We may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated breach of these terms, fraud, or a legal requirement. Where it is lawful and practical, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Refunds for bookings not yet performed will be handled under the Refund Policy.

19. Liability

19.1 We provide our services with reasonable care and skill.

19.2 Our total liability to you for any claim about a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking.

19.3 We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost opportunities, or for any outcome you hoped a puja would bring.

19.4 Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law does not allow to be limited, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 2019. Nothing limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

19.5 You agree to compensate us for reasonable losses caused by your breach of section 16 or by false information you knowingly supply.

20. Complaints and grievance redressal

20.1 Contact support first at [EMAIL] or [PHONE + HOURS]. Most issues are resolved there.

20.2 If you are not satisfied, contact our Grievance Officer:

  • Name: [GRIEVANCE OFFICER NAME]
  • Email: [EMAIL]
  • Phone: [PHONE + HOURS]
  • Address: [REGISTERED ADDRESS]

20.3 We acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, as required by the IT Rules 2021. For complaints about a purchase, we acknowledge within 48 hours and resolve within one month, as required by the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020. We follow whichever timeline is shorter.

20.4 You can also contact the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 or at consumerhelpline.gov.in.

21. Governing law and disputes

21.1 These terms are governed by the laws of India.

21.2 Subject to section 21.3, the courts at [CITY], India, have jurisdiction.

21.3 Nothing in these terms stops you from filing a complaint before the consumer commission that has jurisdiction under the Consumer Protection Act 2019, including the commission where you live or work.

22. Force majeure

22.1 We are not responsible for failure or delay caused by events outside reasonable control, such as natural disasters, epidemics, government orders, temple closures, riots or major network failures.

22.2 If such an event prevents your puja, the rescheduling and refund rules in section 10 and the Refund Policy still apply.

23. Changes to these terms

23.1 We may update these terms. The version number and effective date at the top will change.

23.2 For a material change, we will notify you by email or in the app at least [15] days before it takes effect. Bookings confirmed before a change remain governed by the terms in force when you booked.

24. General

24.1 Severability. If a court finds any part of these terms invalid, the rest remains in force.

24.2 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right immediately, we do not give it up.

24.3 Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a successor business, and your rights will not be reduced as a result.

24.4 Entire agreement. These terms, the Refund Policy and the Privacy Notice are the whole agreement between you and us about the platform.

24.5 Notices. We send notices to the contact details on your account. You send notices to [EMAIL] or our registered address.

24.6 Language. If we publish these terms in Hindi or another language, the English version prevails in case of conflict.

24.7 Survival. Sections 8, 11, 14, 17, 19, 20 and 21 continue after your account is closed.
